I promised you guys I’ll be doing the first part of the Korean ULZZANG style series and knowing me, I totally got distracted trying to look like Tsubasa and left this post till well Friday (since it’s 2am) – ok make it the following Monday . But I totally promise I’ve been thinking about this blog post for over a week about what I can say and how I can show you the best way to get the ULZZANG style. For those of you that don’t know what ULZZANG means, it means “best face” in Korean. It’s a term given to people that are known for their good looks, but not only that, they have to have a certain number of fans as well following their blog and some connection to maybe the fashion or entertainment industry. I promised you guys I’ll be doing the first part of the Korean ULZZANG style series and knowing me, I totally got distracted trying to look like Tsubasa and left. New online games are added every day, so that any gamer will find a game to your taste! In any game, you can play online for free, without registration. One thing that differentiates the ULZZANG korean style from the Japanese Gyaru style is the innocence and natural looking makeup. It’s about look like you are naturally beautiful, here are some pictures of my favourite ULZZANGS Doe Hwe Ji: I guess it’ s essentially a very popular good looking person but not a celebrity in the traditional sense. When you look at the popular ULZZANG’s though, you can see that they all have a unique style. Big eyes pale skin, natural and clean make up and of course being slim. I thought that before going into all the fun makeup and fashion stuff, I’d cover the boring but important part first. Yes I totally hate that word and have managed to live my years so far without really having to worry about it much, but since becoming a bit “older” my metabolism is not what it use to be and I’ve been forced to take part in this dreaded process. But I’ve started to realise that to diet just means to change your eating habits - > for the better. ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, by being slim I don’t mean anorexic and by diet I don’t mean starve yourself – PLEASE DO NOT DO ANY OF THAT!! I’m not trying to promote evil body insecurities but if you look at all the ULZZANG’s out there there is no doubt that they are slim. I’m just trying to promote better eating habits SO you can STAY slim . When I compare and Japanese and Korean diet to what we have here in Australia, I’m actually not surprised at all that our asian cousins are just naturally slimmer. The traditional Korean diet consist largely of kimchi, some rice, rich soups and lots of veggies. Korean girls also eat smaller portions and less oil, dairy and other high calorie foods. Their beverage of choice is usually tea, which has no calories, and tea and chilli are natural metabolic boosters, meaning that they stay skinnier just by consuming them more often. If you look at all the food that is in a traditional korean diet, they are low calorie and healthy. Their bowls are smaller and food servings are also smaller. Unfortunately I’m living in Australia where there in junk food a plenty and portion size that is twice the size of that in an asian country (not to mention double the price too), but we still have hope if we put a little thought into what we eat : ). I didn’t believe me either. Despite what you see on my blog I felt too fat for ULZZANG style (like GANGNAM style) after this winter, it’s called photoshop and I wish I could photoshop myself in real life instead of dieting but we can’t have everything! If I can diet – you can. I’m the girl that can eat everything in site, have 4 meals a day and never miss a 1. I ate junk food constantly thanks to the lovely boyfriend who leaves junk food trails all over the house and ate carbs by the bucketload. No wonder why I got fat right? Getting slimmer is just simple math. Consuming less calories than you need consistently is the simplest way to lose weight. There are lots of tools you can use online to calculate how many calories you need per day and I’ve included all them in the index at the bottom of this post. I basically worked out to lose weight I needed to eat no more than 1. I know right now unless you’ve done this before it may not mean a lot to you but I like to treat my 1. Everyday I am bloody rich and have $1. I can spend it on anything I want – but there is a catch. If you want to feel fuller, you should always pick the cheaper options that give you more. This whole process opened my eyes so much to different types of food and how easy someone can eat a lot and still stay skinny. Let me give you an example. Doritos chips is about 1. For the same amount of calories, you can eat a piece of coles (a supermarket/grocery store brand we have here in Australia) white toast and a fried egg (fried without oil on a non stick pan). I soon realised that being full and staying skinny was so easy. The journey wasn’t easy at first though and I’ve compiled a few tips that will help you stay slimmer. Not only will you stay skinny, you’ll be so healthy!! This was probably the biggest benefit I’ve had while going on a diet – you eat lots of vegetables. Not only are most of them low in calories, they are so good for you and you’ll start to replace all your junk with fresh vegies. A lot of vegetables have a lot of carbs too, but these types of carbs unlike carbs found in white rice and bread make you stay fuller for longer so you are actually less hungry. Healthy skinny and less hungry on a DIET?? Stay away from starchy vegetables like potatoes though, they aren’t the most nutritious or low in calories. I’ve started eating a lot more lettuce, cabbage, tomato and cucumber. Replace certain high calorie foods with alternatives. When you are craving something, try and find the lowest calorie option. If you go to the supermarket and actually read labels, you’ll be crazily surprised how big a difference just reading a label can make to your body. For example I was craving choc mousse, and the diet nestle mouse I found was 6. The alternative choc mouse form other brands were a crazy 1. They both would curb my craving but I took the skinny way out. A great alternative is to replace soft drinks and sweet drinks with tea. Or replace coke with coke zero or diet coke. The difference in calories is about 1. Eat more often but eat smaller portions. I am a grazer, I love to eat all the time and during my whole diet I ate just as often as I’d normally eat so I didn’t feel like I was missing out at all. Just make sure you eat less. The portions that take away stores serve is way to much for a small girl like me. I can split them in half and eat them over 2 meals and save money. Put half your food aside before you start eating. Swap it don’t stop it! I stole this clever line off the new health awareness program the government is running, but it’s so valid. Don’t stop eating it cause it’ll just make you go into withdrawal and you’ll end up eating more later. If you feel like junk, try and eat less and balance it with healthy food that’s low in calories. For example I totally felt like Maccas one night and I thought I was going to break my diet – but I had been eating so healthy that my body was just like nooo give me fat and oil. I found out that the good old maccas hamburger was only about 2. I also found out that getting a tissue and simply blotting some of the excess oil off the patty can save you up to 5. Not like you’d miss the dripping fat anyways. So I blotted it and shoved a whole lot of lettuce in between the buns and had the best junk food fix without spending much of my food budget at all! Compare it to a big mac meal which is about 1. No thanks I’d rather eat a bunch of healthy food and not go hungry than one Maccas meal and thats it. Try not to eat out or eat foods that don’t have a label. This is probably the hardest thing to adjust to. If you are used to eating out a lot, this may be a huge change for you. When you don’t know what goes in your food, it’s hard to stick to your diet. For example, if one tablespoon is 1. Just that little bit of extra oil, or using sub par ingredients can make you fat. A good alternative is to make sure you exercise the day you are eating out – this will give you some calories to work with. Or you can eat less, order vegetables or order an entree. A lot of girls in Japan will not eat out for this very reason. If you walk around the fast food chains and resteraunts (and mind you they have a lot healthier ones then we do) there are very few women. Japanese people are obsessed with staying slim so I’m not surprised. We’ve all heard about the no carb diet, but I don’t believe that cutting carbs out is a good idea, or that it will even make a difference to your figure. A lot of articles support this, however white refined carbs actually carry a lot of calories per gram then other foods. This is a reason to avoid carbs or at least reduce it. Think of filling your plate or bowl with 1/3 carbs and the rest vegetables. This will radically reduce the number of carbs you eat without really making you any less hungry. Carbs is poor mans food anyways ; ). Use tools that make it that much more fun. This is my climax! I’ve totally run out of tips from the top of my head and I’m saving this to last. My major reason for being able to stay on a diet (I’ve never been able to before) is because of this one App I downloaded. It’s called My. Fitness. Pal and it’s the best weight loss app ever. It calculates my daily calorie limit based on my height weight exercise and goal weight and tell me how many calories I can consume everyday. When I add food to my diary, a lot of he popular foods is already inputted by other users and you can just search from it’s huge library of foods and add it in really quickly. If you eat something often and it’s not on there, you can add it in and it’ll add it to the list and remember it for you so next time you add it in you can just look it up. I cannot recommend this enough!! You can also add friends and keep track of progress!! Once you enter in the calories you ate for the day it’ll tell you how much weight you will lose! If you want to join me in this diet journey you can add me on My. Fitness. Pal by using my username: wengir (it was supposed to be wengie but I typoed with my fat fingers and couldn’t change it!
